Welcome to The Cutting Shop, Chester! We’re a traditional barber shop with old school values. We offer a range of both traditional and modern cuts. We serve a range of ages, from children under 15 to senior citizens.
We offer a range of appointments throughout the week and offer a walk in service on Thursday nights up until 8:30pm. Appointments aren’t always necessary although we would advise that you book to avoid disappointment!
This is the best barber shop in Chester. Always guaranteed a laugh with the team.

Very grateful Angie works late on a Thursday as it is super convenient if you’re busy in the working day. Only waited maybe 20 minutes as a drop-in at around 1800, Angie was a great host, and provided an excellent cut. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.read more

Took my 13yrs grandson for a haircut today.Angie did an amazing job.We’ve been to a few hairdressers over the years. My grandson has very thick strong hair & they never seem to get it right.Angie listen to what he wanted & the cut was excellent.Customer service was fabulous. I've been visiting The Cutting Shop at Vicars Cross for a good few years now. Angie, the owner, is always very friendly and helpful. The premises, too, are traditional and inviting. Paul - who has always cut my hair - is one of the previous joint owners who established the business (in it's current location in1985) Both still continue to work part-time now. Excellent first experience of Angie's skills with my teenage son who has severe learning and sensory difficulties and finds haircuts and new places challenging. She helped him feel at ease and coaxed him (he was rather anxious) very patiently through cape wearing, scissors, clippers, water spray etc. He's super proud of himself today and his hair looks super smart for a forthcoming wedding. That takes serious skills!read more

Had my hair cut last Saturday along with a cut throat neck shave. Nice clean look as always. The time sat in the chair is always a place where you can have a good chat with Angie and Steve. Visited yesterday for the first time as I’d noticed they do evening walk-ins on a Thursday which saves me trying to fit it in at the weekend. Angie was very friendly and did a great cut. I know this because once I got home I was immediately (and repeatedly for the rest of the evening) told this was the best haircut I’ve ever had!read more

I’ve used The Cutting Shop for my haircuts now for well over 5 years (after they were recommended to me by two long standing customers) and wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. All the hairdressers have years of experience and in addition to being good at cutting hair, they are reasonably priced. And what’s more, you can park your car right outside.read more

Visited with my 8 year old, Ange made us feel so welcome even though it was our 1st visit .Would recommend booking as they have a loyal customer base and are very busy.Completely professional and adhering to all the social distancing procedures which was really reassuring .Ange listened to what my son asked for and did a fantastic job !Great rapport with me and my son , friendly and genuinely interested in our requests .A fabulous hair cut and just as we asked for , obviously very experienced in her role and very skilled too .Whole salon spotlessly clean and a really pleasant experience.Thankyou , we will be back and definitely recommend !read more

Went for only my 2nd visit on Saturday last.Made a cardinal sin of NOT making an appointment(note to self).When asked by Ange if I had one she said not to worry and that she would fit me in as soon as she could. Sraight away as it happened! As with my 1st visit I came away wholey satisified with the welcome and treatment I received. With apologises to anyone waiting.
